Ghibli Park Tickets from the US (2026): How to Book, Which Pass, Prices in USD

Ghibli Park is near Nagoya (Aichi), not Tokyo, and every admission pass must be booked online in advance. From the US, use the two sellers linked on the official ticket page: LAWSON TICKET or Klook.
Next release: January 2027 dates open on LAWSON TICKET Nov 10, 2 p.m. Japan time (Nov 10, 12 a.m. Eastern / Nov 9, 9 p.m. Pacific). Klook's availability is its own; check it separately.
Which pass: Premium (¥7,300–¥7,800, about $46–$49) if you want Howl's Castle or the Totoro house; Standard (¥3,300–¥3,800, about $21–$24) for the Grand Warehouse on a budget.

Official pages: Ghibli Park tickets (overseas purchase) · LAWSON TICKET Ghibli Park (English) · Park calendar

Only two passes are sold to visitors living outside Japan: the O-Sanpo Day Pass Premium and the O-Sanpo Day Pass Standard. No admission passes are sold at the park; the only tickets sold on the day are limited building-entry add-ons for Standard holders inside Valley of Witches. Bookings cannot be refunded or changed, so pick the date after your flights and hotel are fixed.

Prices, rules and sale status rechecked on the official Ghibli Park site and the official LAWSON TICKET page on November 4, 2026. Dollar figures use US$1 = ¥158.29 (European Central Bank reference rate via Frankfurter, November 3, 2026), rounded. Tickets are charged in yen; your card's rate and fees set the final dollar amount.

The park says it plainly: Ghibli Park tickets are not valid at the Ghibli Museum, and Museum tickets are not valid at the Park. Many US itineraries pass Nagoya anyway, because it is a Shinkansen stop between Tokyo and Kyoto (see Tokyo to Kyoto Shinkansen: price and booking from the US).

2. Premium or Standard: pick by what you want to see

Standard¥3,300 (~$21) / ¥1,650 (~$10)¥3,800 (~$24) / ¥1,900 (~$12)

Neither pass includes the paid extras: the Carousel and Flying Machine (Valley of Witches) and the Tatara-ba workshops (Mononoke Village) cost extra.

Children 0–3 are free and are not counted in your party. LAWSON TICKET's overseas page adds a service charge of ¥110 per ticket when tickets are issued. There are no group or early-booking discounts. Visitors with a disability certificate and one companion pay half price (show the certificate and passport at entry).

Choose Premium if the Totoro house (Satsuki and Mei's House, in Dondoko Forest) is a must: Standard does not cover Dondoko Forest at all, and there is no add-on for it. For Howl's Castle, Standard holders can try for a limited same-day ticket; Premium holders just walk in. Choose Standard if you are on a tight budget or a half-day stop, and the Grand Warehouse is your main goal.

How Standard add-ons work: at 10 a.m. (9 a.m. on weekends and holidays) exchange vouchers with a sales time are handed out near the Ticket Truck in Valley of Witches, earliest times first. Come back at your voucher time (until 4:30 p.m.) to buy the building ticket. Numbers are limited and sales end when they run out.

The cheaper single-area tickets you may see online (for example Dondoko Forest alone) are sold only through the Japanese domestic system, not to overseas buyers.

4. How to buy from the US, step by step (LAWSON TICKET)

  1. Before sale day: have your passport, the address of your hotel or other lodging in Japan (the form asks for your "address while in Japan"; you do not need to live there), a phone number and a credit card ready. Know who is in your group (max 6 tickets per order; each pass type can be bought once per month).
  2. Open the official link from ghibli-park.jp/en/ticket, agree to the terms and pick the month.
  3. Select date, Grand Warehouse entry time (9 a.m. on 9 a.m.-opening days, then 10 a.m.–2 p.m.) and number of tickets. You must enter the Grand Warehouse within one hour of that time; early entry is not allowed. Other areas have no set time, with final entry at 4:30 p.m.
  4. Enter name, email, phone, country of residence, passport number and your address while in Japan.
  5. Pay by credit card (the only method). Write down the password and phone number you used; you need both to log in to your tickets later.

Klook is the other online seller linked from the official page. Compare the total shown at checkout with the official yen price before you pay. Packages with a hotel in Aichi are sold through Sunrise Tours (JTB) and agencies the park lists, such as Viator and KKday.

Card question first? See which US credit cards work in Japan and which have no foreign transaction fee.

5. E-ticket rules before arrival

  • The ticket page will not open from the US. LAWSON TICKET restricts the ticket display URL to access from Japan for security; it works once you are in Japan. Bookmark the link from the "Notification of Ticket Display Start" email.
  • Show the live ticket in your phone's browser (MOALA Ticket, no app). Screenshots and saved PDF data of the QR code are not accepted. You need mobile data at the gate; free Wi-Fi is not available at some entrances.
  • No smartphone? The one paper option LAWSON TICKET accepts is a printout of your My Page (the page listing the QR codes and details for your whole group), printed before you go.
  • Group entry: everyone enters with the person named on the booking, who may be asked for a passport. With Standard, the group enters every area together. With Premium, the group enters the first area and the Grand Warehouse together, then can enter other areas separately using wristbands.
  • Premium wristbands by noon: pick them up at your first area by 12 p.m. on the day, even if your Grand Warehouse slot is later.

6. Getting there from Nagoya Station

RouteTime / adult fare
Subway (Higashiyama Line) to Fujigaoka → Linimo to Ai·Chikyuhaku Kinen Koen41 min, ¥710 (~$4.50)
JR Chuo Line to Kozoji → Aichi Loop Line to Yakusa → Linimo (park's suggested route when Fujigaoka is crowded)47 min, ¥1,100 (~$7)

Ride times exclude transfers. Exit 2 of Ai·Chikyuhaku Kinen Koen Station puts you in the surrounding Expo 2005 park, not at a Ghibli area. Then walk: about 400 m to the Grand Warehouse, 300 m to Hill of Youth, 800 m to Mononoke Village and 1,000–1,300 m to Dondoko Forest (official FAQ figures). Linimo ticket machines take cash only, but IC cards such as Suica work (Suica or PASMO for tourists). There is no parking for Ghibli Park, and large bags and suitcases are not allowed; lockers in the surrounding park are limited, so leave luggage at your hotel. Meitetsu also runs a shuttle bus from Nagoya Station on park opening days (cashless).

7. Sold out or something went wrong

  • Your date is sold out: check whether Standard is still open (on Nov 4, December Standard was), try another weekday, or look at the hotel packages the park lists. Without a ticket you can still walk the surrounding Expo park, which has some free Ghibli-themed spots.
  • Payment stuck on hold: LAWSON TICKET says email addresses with a leading dot, a dot right before "@", or two dots in a row can break card payment. Use a plain address.
  • Do not buy resale tickets. The park refuses entry to tickets that look bought at auction or from other unofficial sellers, and buying on someone else's behalf is banned.
  • Plans changed: no refunds, no date or time changes. If the whole park closes for weather, the park says it will announce how refunds work.
  • Help: LAWSON TICKET inquiry form for bookings; Ghibli Park phone +81 50 3626 2455 (international, during park hours, English available). Tickets cannot be bought by phone.
